Background music makes a video feel finished — but too loud and nobody can hear what is said, too quiet and it might as well not be there.

Rekreate's free tool gets the balance right automatically. Choose a music volume, and the music is lowered whenever there is speech and comes back up in the gaps, just like a professional edit. It also fades in and out and loops to fill the whole video.

Why use this free tool

Add background music to any video

Upload a video and a music file, get a video with music.

Music gets quieter when people talk

Automatic ducking keeps speech clear without making the music disappear.

Smooth fade in and fade out

No abrupt start or stop.

Music loops to fit

A short track repeats; a long one is cut at the end of the video.

Works with silent videos too

A video with no sound gets the music on its own.

No watermark, no sign-up

Free and clean.

This tool vs other ways to add music

vs. adding music in the social app

In-app music is only available on that app and may be removed later. Adding it to the file keeps it everywhere.

vs. basic audio tools

Most set one fixed volume, so either speech or music suffers. Ducking fixes that.

vs. video editors

Editors can duck music, with keyframes set by hand. Here it is automatic.

How adding music works

Your video and music are uploaded over HTTPS and processed on Rekreate's servers with FFmpeg. The music is looped or cut to the length of the video, set to your volume, and faded in and out. With ducking on, a compressor listens to the video's own sound and lowers the music whenever there is speech, then lets it back up in the pauses.

The music and original sound are mixed into one track, and the picture is copied without re-encoding when possible. Uploads are deleted after processing, results after 60 minutes.
