Recreating a page is legal; copying one is not
Layout patterns are not owned by anyone: a hero with a headline, a sub-headline and a screenshot is a convention, and recreating that convention is normal practice.
What belongs to the original owner is everything specific — their copy, their photography, their illustrations, their logo, their fonts if licensed, and their code where it is not open source. A recreated page should share the structure and none of the substance.
The practical rule: if a visitor could mistake your page for theirs, you have gone too far. Take the skeleton, bring your own everything else.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI recreate a website from a URL?
Yes — modern models can read a rendered page and rebuild its structure as HTML and CSS. Rekreate's version is in development; today our /make tools cover the video and image side of a page.
Will I get the exact same website?
No, and you should not want that. You get the layout and component structure with placeholder content, so you can put your own brand, copy and images in.
Is it legal to recreate a website?
Recreating layout conventions is fine. Copying copy, photography, illustrations, logos or licensed fonts is not. Keep the structure, replace the substance.
Will it work for web apps and dashboards?
No. The tool targets public marketing pages. Anything behind a login, plus back ends, databases and payments, is out of scope.
When will the website recreator launch?
