A video that plays sideways on your computer, a clip filmed upside down, a selfie video that reads backwards — all three are fixed by rotating or flipping the video.

Rekreate's free video rotator turns the actual picture, not just a setting some players ignore, so the video plays the right way up everywhere: on phones, computers, TVs and every social platform.

Why use this free video rotator

Rotate video 90 degrees

Clockwise or counter-clockwise, for videos filmed sideways.

Fix upside-down videos

Rotate 180° in one click.

Mirror a video

Flip left to right to fix selfie and webcam videos where text reads backwards.

Fixed in every player

The picture itself is rotated, so it does not flip back when you upload or open it elsewhere.

Works with iPhone and Android videos

MOV and MP4 from any phone.

No watermark, no sign-up

Free and clean.

How to rotate a video in 3 steps

  1. Upload the video

Drop it into the box at the top or tap to choose it.

  2. Choose the rotation

90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, 180°, mirror or flip upside down.

  3. Download

Press Start and save the rotated MP4.

Every way to turn a video

Rotate 90° clockwise

For videos that play lying on their left side.

Rotate 90° counter-clockwise

For videos that play lying on their right side.

Rotate 180°

For videos filmed upside down.

Mirror left–right

Un-mirror selfie and webcam recordings so text reads correctly.

Flip upside down

A vertical flip for creative effects or mounted cameras.

Any format

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI in, MP4 out.

Use the video rotator on any device

On Windows PC and Mac

Rotate videos in any browser on Windows or Mac — no need for VLC settings that only change playback.

On iPhone and Android

On iPhone or Android, pick the sideways video from your gallery and save the fixed version.

In any modern browser

Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox all work. There is no app, plugin or extension to install — the processing happens on our servers, so an old laptop is as fast as a new one.

Safe, private and free

No account, no sign-up

Open the page and use it. There is nothing to register and no email address to hand over.

Files deleted automatically

Your upload is deleted the moment processing finishes, and the result 60 minutes later. Files are not shared, published or used for anything else.

Encrypted in transit

Uploads and downloads go over HTTPS, the same encryption your bank uses in the browser.

No watermark, ever

The file you download is clean. No logo in the corner, no intro card, no "made with" frame at the end.

Rotating the video vs other fixes

vs. rotating in the player

VLC or QuickTime can rotate while you watch, but the file stays sideways. This fixes the file.

vs. changing the rotation setting

Some tools only change a rotation tag that many apps and websites ignore. Rotating the picture works everywhere.

vs. the phone editor

Phone editors rotate too, but the change can be lost when the file is shared. The result here is permanent.

Popular uses

Fix a sideways iPhone video on Windows

Rotate it so it plays upright in every Windows player.

Turn a vertical video horizontal

Rotate 90° when a clip was filmed with the phone turned.

Un-mirror a webcam recording

Make text and logos read the right way.

Fix an upside-down action camera clip

Rotate 180° when the camera was mounted upside down.

Prepare a video before uploading

Make sure it shows the right way up on social media.

How the video rotator works

Phones record in one orientation and store a note telling players to turn the video. Some players and websites ignore that note, which is why videos show up sideways.

Rekreate's rotator uploads your video over HTTPS and uses FFmpeg to rotate or flip the actual picture, clears the old rotation note so nothing turns it twice, and encodes a high-quality H.264 MP4 with the original sound. A 90° rotation swaps width and height, so a 1920×1080 video becomes 1080×1920. Uploads are deleted after processing, results after 60 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate a video for free?

Upload it above, choose the rotation, and press Start. Download the rotated MP4.

Why is my phone video sideways on my computer?

Phones store a rotation note instead of turning the picture, and some computer players ignore it. Rotating the video here fixes it for every player.

How do I rotate a video 90 degrees?

Choose 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise, depending on which way it is lying.

How do I fix an upside-down video?

Choose 180°.

How do I mirror a video?

Choose "Mirror left–right". This fixes selfie and webcam videos where text appears backwards.

Will the rotation stay when I upload the video?

Yes. The picture itself is rotated, so it stays correct on every platform.

Does rotating change the video size?

A 90° rotation swaps width and height. 180° and flips keep the same size.

Can I rotate a video on my iPhone?

Yes. Open this page in Safari, choose the video from Photos, and save the result.

Does rotating reduce quality?

No visible loss — the video is encoded at high quality.

Is there a watermark?

No.

What is the maximum size?

Up to 95 MB and 10 minutes.

What is the difference between rotating and flipping?

Rotating turns the picture; flipping mirrors it, so text reads backwards.
