The aim is the practical case — change a price, update a date, swap a logo, translate the whole thing — without rebuilding the layout by hand or paying for a redesign.

Recreate, or start over?
Recreate when the document is basically right and only the file is unusable: an old deck that still sells, a resume with a layout you like, a price list that needs two numbers changed.
Start over when the document is three years old, the brand has moved on, or the structure never worked. Recreating a bad layout faithfully just gives you a bad layout you can now edit.
And check the rights: recreate documents you own or are authorised to change. Rebuilding someone else's branded template to pass it off as yours is a copyright and trademark problem, exactly as it is with logos.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI turn a PDF into an editable document?
Yes — models can recover the text and reconstruct the layout as headings, lists, tables and image slots. Rekreate's PDF recreator is in development; today you can generate editable DOCX and PDF documents from transcriptions.
Will the layout stay exactly the same?
Close, not identical. Fonts, spacing and columns are reconstructed, so expect a document that reads like the original rather than a pixel match.
Can I recreate my resume from a PDF?
That is one of the main cases: sections, dates and bullets come back as structured text you can update and re-export.
Does it work with scans?
Yes, through OCR — with a quality caveat. Always proof-read numbers, names and dates in a recreated scan before sending it anywhere.
Should I use it for contracts?
No. Never rely on an AI recreation for a legal document; use the original file and a lawyer.
When will it be available?
